The following curricula are housed in the Resource Center.

Caring for the abuse affected child: cross disciplinary training.

Maine Child Welfare Training Institute, Muskie School of Public Service, University of Southern Maine, 2000.

This training program, which is a collaborative effort among social service professionals in the domestic abuse/violence, child abuse/neglect, and substance abuse fields, will implement an inter-disciplinary approach to the training of professionals. The training focuses on children as parts of a holistic family system and integrates knowledge and skill from each of these social service areas.

Domestic violence: A national curriculum for child protective services.

This curriculum outlines a two-day training program to teach child protective services workers how best to protect children living with domestic violence.

Domestic violence: A national curriculum for family preservation practitioners.

This curriculum presents a comprehensive three-day training program on domestic violence for family preservation practitioners. Exercises and presentations are geared towards teaching family preservation practitioners how to identify domestic violence, assess lethality, develop safety plans for the adult victim and children, and intervene with the perpetrator.

A video based training package for police officers to explore strategies for
interacting with children available from Mister Rogers Neighborhood, Family Communications.

Safe havens training project: helping teachers and child care providers support children and families who witness violence in their communities. Family Communications, Inc., with the Child Witness to Violence Project at Boston Medical Center, 1998.

This three-part video-based training program examines the issue of community violence by looking at the kinds of violence our children are witnessing; their effects on their development; and what teachers, parents, and community members can do to respond. Designed for use by trainers experienced in child development and violence-related issues, the materials can be used singly or sequentially in three workshops for teachers and caregivers. Three 20-minute tapes with 279 page training manual.

Child Witness to Violence Project at Boston Medical Center, [DATE]

This is a manual for training mental health providers who work with children and families affected by domestic violence. This manual includes workshop materials for 13 hours of training, slides for use in training, complete bibliography, and fully reproducible handouts.
